George Ulseth, certified public accountant, through the CPA Tax Center, provides year-round financial planning, tax counseling and accounting service. His office is at 1619 S. University Dr. in Fargo, North Dakota. He also continues to practice law at another office, Ste. C, 1001 Center Ave., Box 542, Moorhead, Minnesota.
He strongly advocates avoiding problems by taking early action to prevent unpleasant surprises such as lawsuits and I.R.S. audits. It is easier, faster, and much less costly to handle such matters before they have escalated. To encourage the prevention idea, there is no charge for the initial interview. Many problems can be solved at that early stage.
In spite of the well-intentioned promises of politicians to simplify the laws, especially in the income tax area, they seem to become increasingly complex and confusing. As a result, most people find that they can get substantial low-cost benefits from the services provided by income tax professionals. He recommends both law and accounting as interesting, challenging and rewarding fields for students planning their careers.
Ulseth also has a "home page" underway on the Internet's world-wide web. It can be found at http://www.corpcomm.net/~ulseth. To fully view the home page, it is best to use a browser such as Netscape Navigator 3.0, or Microsoft's Internet Explorer that can show "frames".
Ulseth's academic credentials include a juris doctor's degree in law (U. of N.D.) and a doctor of philosophy degree in finance (U. of Minnesota), as well as the CPA designation. He was professor of accounting, finance, and law at the U. of Wisconsin and at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in New York before returning to the Grand Forks area to resume practice .
Attorney George Ulseth has been honored by the Minnesota state bar association. He was named "senior counselor" in recognition of his honorable service at the bar of Minnesota, and continued interest in the advancement of the profession of law as an active member of the Minnesota bar association.
The citation adds that he sets an inspiring example of devotion to the duties and obligations of an attorney and counselor at law, of leadership and unselfish participation in the public affairs of the community, state and nation, and of those commendable personal qualities that characterize those who best exemplify the high ideals of the profession of the bar as officers of the courts in the administration of justice.
